Can a non-legal individual carry out a search of the index of proprietors’ names using form PN1 in order to find the new proprietors address?
Land registry advice please. I am looking for the owners address of a friends neighbouring rental property that has recently been sold with a sitting tenant. The new proprietors name has now been updated under section B of the title, however no address for service has been given and their address is listed as the rental property. I’m aware there is the option of carrying out a search of the index of proprietors’ names using form PN1. As the friend has no legal representation, would she as a non legal individual be able to carry out the search in hope of finding the new proprietors address? Are there any other ways of finding the new proprietors address to contact them? Many thanks

Solicitor (no longer in practice). Conveyancing isn't my area but you don't need legal representation in order to submit a PN1. You do need to demonstrate a legitimate interest in the property. I presume that the tenant won't disclose the address? If you don't get the info you need from the Land Registry or the tenant, your other option would be to use a no trace no fee, tracing agent.
