Can my sister force her ex-partner to pay for half the roof repairs even though they own the house as joint tenants? | Lawhive - Solicitors & Lawyers Online
Can my sister force her ex-partner to pay for half the roof repairs even though they own the house as joint tenants?
Looking for advice regarding mortgage payments. My sisters partner had an affair and moved out of the family home that they own as joint tenants. The roof on their house is currently leaking, and he refuses to pay half for the repairs, despite the fact that his daughter is sleeping in a damp room when she already has breathing problems. My sister has already taken over all the bills and is paying the whole mortgage. Something just doesn't seem right here. He agreed to pay £320 a month maintenance for the children, as he already pays maintenance for another child from a previous relationship. Is there anything she can do? He had sorted out the house insurance and it doesn't cover the roof.
