Can you be ticketed for driving 30mph on a road with a 20mph speed limit if there is no danger involved?
There’s a big road closure ware I live and to try and make drivers use the diversion the council has put in place they have made the easyist route a 20mph road( was 30) this is a fairly large road and and should never be a 20 and causes lots of frustration with many motorists who want to continue at 30 but get a few plodding at 20 to stay in the law! My question is if your caught still doing 30mph can they really do you for this as it’s in no way dangerous driving!

NQ - but yes. They will have made a temporary change to the speed limit on that stretch of road. It isn't always about danger but emissions too. More and more 30s are being permanently dropped to lower CO2 emissions. If caught it would be the same as you breaking the speed limit in any other road.

NQ- Yes it is a separate code as I got it many years ago for doing 53 in a temporary speed limit of 50 when the usual limit was 70. Pulled by an unmarked police car. Everytime I renewed my insurance and gave the code they always asked what it was as nobody had heard of it.

Nq depends...if the TRO has been updated correctly either via a TTRO or by permanent means then yes. If they haven't updated it correctly then it isn't enforceable TRO= traffic restriction order TTRO = temporary traffic restriction order

NQ Also worth checking if it is a speed limit or recommendation. A lot of the 20mph zones in the black square on a yellow background are recommendations . It has to be in a red circle to be a speed limit.

NQ - highways contractor. These speed limits are put in place to protect the workforce or the public on diversion routes. Please respect the lowered speed limit and get home safely……..sadly many road workers every year don’t due to people disobeying the speed limit
