Does the subtenant have any options available if the tenant changes the master lease, per the new tenant's wishes?
I sublease a portion of a building from the Tenant (with landlord agreement in place) and have done so for nearly five years without any issues. The current tenant has just sold the business as a going concern and the new tenant has informed me that they are going to change the Master Lease and surrender my Sub Lease, then create a new one. I have one more year left to run on my Sub Lease. I have to date received no information on any changes they want to make, but I’d like to know where I stand as I feel very uneasy with this and don’t want to be worse off. We are located in England. Do I have any options available to me if they do change the Master Lease? Do I have to accept changes to the Sub Lease? Any advice appreciated.
