NQ - but have looked into this issue before. On the compensation wide - No you are not entitled to any - a recall is to prevent an occurrence due to a fault detected, so in most cases, the recall will have addressed the problem before it becomes an issue. You are also not entitled to compensation if the fault in question occurs in your vehicle, because as soon as you know about said recall, it then becomes your responsibility to book it in. The recall repair and labour is free. It is an offence to sell a car that has an outstanding recall. The general product safety regulations 2005 say that a dealership must have a recall fixed before selling that car into a customer, and if they fail to do so, can be prosecuted by trading standards. Although you are not entitled to compensation, you will be entitled to a refund for the car if you choose to hand it back, depending on how long you have owned the vehicle.
