If the landlord gains an injunction for access against the tenant, can the tenant's partner subsequently deny him access?
Hello and thanks, I am after some advice please. My partner and I have been joint tenants in private rented property for over 6 years, I have denied our landlord access to our home. He is currently seeking an injunction for access. He has took the action solely against me. Should he gain the injunction, could my partner subsequently deny him access? The background is the landlord is a bully and no one has ever been denied access, in 6 years we have allowed access on his request, over 50 times. All safety inspections are up to date and we have never been in rent arrears. We are in England. Many thanks 👍

Housing professional - do you have a joint tenancy? If so it should be both of you. Check the wording of the tenancy, I'm sure it will say about landlord requesting access and layout the terms of how this is agreed. If it's in the tenancy there's not much you can do about it and I'm not sure why you would object? I can't imagine a court not granting an injunction, and you will incur those costs which could be quite high.

Solicitor- I think you need to he careful because if he gets the court order he wants the costs which you could end up paying can be substantial. I suggest set the emotions to one side and speak to shelter.
