Is it legal for a landlord to charge a fee for finding a new tenant to replace a friend who is moving out of her flat?
My friend is going to move out of her flat soon and her tenancy is due to finish in April 2022. A replacement has been found but landlord is saying that you need to pay £250 to the letting agent to move for the new contract for the new tenant. Is this legal?

NQ- landlord. under the Tenant Fee Act they can charge a fee for amending the tenancy or for any costs in early termination, but you can appeal if you think this figure is too high. There is a great tenant’s guide on the government website.
