What are the options for a woman whose husband has not paid the mortgage or bills for three years, and she can't afford the house anymore?
My relative is recently divorced, the house is in joint names but husband hasn’t paid towards mortgage/ bills for 3 years. The wife can’t afford the house anymore or afford to put on the market and the husband won’t pay towards any of this either. What are her options how would she go about a quick sale or if not worse case house repossession?

Non practising qualified. It's in both their interests to avoid repossession which will result in a low sale price and a blacklisting for future credit. There shouldn't be any upfront costs in putting the property on the market with most estate agents. But if they can't agree about the sale or the proposed division of sale proceeds, they will need to apply to the divorce court for an order for sale and if necessary, detailed directions
