What can be done to stop an eviction for someone in the UK who is in arrears on their rent?
Good afternoon. I’m looking for advice as I’ve got rock bottom. When me and my ex split up 3 years ago he moved out and left me in the LHA home. I had to claim uc. As his name is still on tenancy uc keep messing up my rent payments and now I’m in arrears and looking at eviction 😢. How. Am I stop this and get some help in clearing the arrears thanks

Solicitor ( no longer in practice). You need urgent advice re the possible eviction from an organisation like CAB or Shelter. The untidy tenancy rules usually mean that the rent should be paid even though your ex's name is still on the tenancy. When the immediate problem is solved, apply for a transfer of the tenancy into your sole name, this link will help to explain the position https:// rightsofwomen.or g.uk/ wp-content/ uploads/2019/07/ Applying-For-A-T ransfer-Of-Tena ncy.pdf
