Will renting while looking for a new home affect the tax credit the person is able to receive?
Hi there Due to separation we have had to sell the family home. I will be renting while looking for somewhere to buy for myself and 2 children. As I will have equity from my house sale rent to put towards a house purchase would that mean I wouldn't be able to obtain child/working tax credit during the time I am renting. Thank you

Nq. But claiming UC myself. If you have over £16,000 in savings, then no, you will not be able to claim universal credit. UC is what replaced working tax credits etc. https:// www.gov.uk/ universal-credit /eligibility

Benefits advisor, capital from sale of a property is disregarded for 6 months if intending to buy another property, this is for universal credit, if you are still on legacy tax credits then capital has no effect
